Debrief

When a glucose result and the clinical picture diverge, pause the proposed action, check the device-specific limitations, and follow the institution’s current confirmation and escalation pathway. If the confirmation method is unavailable or disagreement persists, use the approved backup route and escalate rather than allowing convenience to decide treatment.

Keep testing covered by currently authorized staff while a nonwaived operator’s missing competency elements are assessed and documented. Use the current device instructions and institutional protocol for CGM reconciliation, critical-value notification, and the method that governs an insulin-related action.

A defensible glucose action connects the right method, a documented operator authorization, and the current protocol, not a universal agreement number or a single displayed value.
