Module UBF-14 · Version 1.0
Semen Analysis: From Collection to Result Interpretation
Work through a basic semen examination from collection history through microscopic classification. Confirm abstinence, collection completeness, and timing; calculate concentration and total sperm number from raw chamber counts; classify motility using current WHO terminology; and decide what a single result set can and cannot say about fertility.

Who this module is for
Clinical laboratory scientists and students with prior microscopy, cell counting, and specimen handling experience who perform or review basic semen examinations.
Learning objectives
- Explain the abstinence, complete collection, container, transport, temperature, and timing requirements a semen specimen must meet before results can be trusted.
- Measure or evaluate volume, liquefaction, viscosity, concentration, total sperm number, motility, vitality, and morphology using WHO sixth-edition procedures and stated reference limits.
- Distinguish descriptive laboratory findings from a stand-alone fertility determination and write a defensible report limitation.
How completion works
Mark every required section done and answer every knowledge check in those sections correctly. The final save completes the module automatically.
