Decide what the data can and cannot support

The comparison exercise produced a correlation of r = 0.999, a fitted line with slope 1.04 and intercept -2 mg/dL, a bias of +2.0% at 100 mg/dL and +3.0% at 200 mg/dL, and five visible residuals with a +0.6 mg/dL outlier at 160 mg/dL. No allowable bias limit and no complete predefined acceptance protocol are declared for this case.

This is the moment to separate what the numbers show from what a laboratory would need in order to act on them. The correlation coefficient answers association only. The slope and intercept describe the shape of the relationship, not whether it is close enough for interchangeable use. The point-specific bias values are the numbers that would matter at a diagnostic decision point, if a predefined limit existed to compare them against.

A defensible bench action here is not silence and not automatic acceptance or rejection. It is a clear statement of what was measured, at which concentrations, with which regression choice, alongside an explicit note that no acceptance decision can be made without a predefined allowable-bias limit from the local protocol.

Report the calculated numbers precisely, and say plainly when a decision needs a local protocol input that has not been supplied.

Mock dilution spreadsheet. E2 shows the correct formula =D2*(C2/A2) without a coral flag. Only E3 is coral because =D3*(A3/C3) inverts the dilution factor.
Figure 1Spreadsheet formula audit: E2 is correct; only the inverted E3 dilution-factor formula is flagged.
