Release what the method supports

Electrophoresis measures protein distribution and pattern shape. IFE identifies a monoclonal immunoglobulin heavy-chain and light-chain type, and sFLC adds complementary evidence. None of these results alone establishes marrow-based disease classification.

Required electrophoresis controls must run concurrently and be acceptable before patient results are released. Reference intervals, reflex thresholds, turnaround time, lot acceptance, and report review follow the validated local procedure. Serial monitoring should use the same laboratory and method where possible because AGE and CZE fractions are not numerically interchangeable. For measurable disease, routine sFLC monitoring alone does not replace electrophoretic measurements used in response assessment.

Release a precise laboratory finding, document method limits, and route patient-specific diagnostic interpretation through qualified clinical review.
